A European software development company needs to upgrade its financial SaaS platform to address the following issues:

Solution

To address the issues of complex calculation rules, slow response to user demands, and improve collaboration efficiency, the company’s CTO discovered Univer on GitHub’s trending list and embedded it into their financial SaaS platform to meet user needs.

1. Compatibility with Excel templates

Univer is an isomorphic full-stack framework that can convert Excel files into spreadsheet snapshots, preserving complex formulas and styles from Excel. A snapshot is a JSON data structure defined by Univer. After embedding the Univer SDK, users can perform online editing within the financial SaaS platform using Univer Spreadsheets, supporting features like formulas, named ranges, data validation, conditional formatting, sparklines, images, merged cells, text styles, and cell formatting, meeting complex requirements.

2. User-defined calculation rules

After embedding the Univer SDK, users can utilize familiar formulas to define data calculation rules, edit, and save complex financial report templates, as well as view, modify, print, and export them online. The rich charting features enable users to easily generate financial reports, all without the need for developer involvement, saving significant time. Univer adopts a modular plugin architecture with over 100 plugins, allowing developers to easily extend functionalities to meet personalized needs, such as custom formulas, specialized charts, expanded pivot table options, and customized function menus and shortcuts. This greatly improves user satisfaction with the financial SaaS platform.

3. Online collaboration

Univer supports multi-user collaborative editing and uses OT algorithms to resolve conflicts that arise during the editing process. It allows up to 200 people to edit a spreadsheet simultaneously and 1,000 people to view it at the same time, fully meeting industry standards. This enables users to collaborate online to complete budgeting tasks. During editing, data updates in real-time, and users can set view and edit permissions for cells, worksheets, and workbooks, ensuring data security. If any data entry errors occur, users can restore snapshot data from any point in time using the version history feature, ensuring data accuracy and providing peace of mind.
